The doctor is in — and apparently, he has just received a very different kind of honour! Noah Wyle, the Emmy-winning star of HBO's hit medical drama The Pitt, has officially been named People magazine's 2026 Sexiest Man Alive.
The 55-year-old actor was announced as this year's honouree on October 27, 2026, adding another headline-making achievement to an already remarkable year.
Wyle first became a household name playing Dr. John Carter on the legendary medical drama ER, which premiered in 1994.
Decades later, he returned to the hospital setting as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in The Pitt, earning widespread recognition for his performance.
His work on the series has brought him major awards, including Emmy recognition for both acting and producing. The show's success has introduced him to a new generation of television viewers.
Wyle admitted that he initially thought the news was a joke.
Speaking to People, he said he never imagined that such an honour would be bestowed upon him.
His wife, actress Sara Wells, helped convince him to accept the title. Wyle explained that she believes his character as a husband, father and person is worth celebrating.
He also joked that the recognition might bring plenty of teasing from friends and family.
There's another fun connection to Wyle's television history. His former ER co-star George Clooney has also held the People title — twice, in 1997 and 2006.
Wyle now joins a long list of previous honourees, including Michael B. Jordan, Idris Elba, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd and Jonathan Bailey, who received the title in 2025.
The recognition arrives after a successful period for Wyle, whose return to medical television has become one of the biggest talking points in his career.
From the young doctor audiences first met on ER to the experienced physician he portrays in The Pitt, Wyle has remained a familiar face on television for more than three decades.
And now, he has a brand-new title to add to his résumé.
