Kim Kardashian has had a birthday experience unlike any other — getting the chance to wear some of Elizabeth Taylor’s legendary jewellery, including an iconic emerald-and-diamond necklace once owned by the Hollywood legend.
During a trip to Rome for the press tour of All’s Fair Season 2, Kardashian visited Bulgari, where the luxury jewellery house brought the historic pieces out of its archives for a special private fitting arranged by her stylist, Law Roach.
The highlight was Elizabeth Taylor’s famous Bulgari emerald-and-diamond necklace, gifted to her by actor Richard Burton.
The spectacular piece features 16 Colombian emeralds surrounded by diamonds, set in platinum, with a detachable pendant featuring a 23.46-carat emerald.
Kardashian also tried on earrings inspired by Taylor’s collection. However, reports clarify that the earrings were similar pieces, not Taylor’s original pair.
The necklace was part of a celebrated jewellery collection that Bulgari reacquired following its sale at a 2011 Christie’s auction.
Kardashian shared the experience in an Instagram video posted on October 28, showing her reaction as the jewellery was brought out.
She thanked Law Roach for arranging the opportunity, calling it the “best birthday present ever.”
She also revealed that she had previously spoken with Elizabeth Taylor by phone about the necklace. Shortly after Taylor died in 2011, Kardashian was invited into her home and shown the actress’s jewellery collection before her belongings were cleared.
For Kardashian, the experience was about more than wearing extraordinary jewellery. She described Taylor as an inspiration for her unapologetic personality, generosity and humanitarian work.
The jewellery fitting is part of Kardashian's wider tribute to Taylor during the promotional tour for All’s Fair Season 2.
She has also recreated one of Taylor’s famous looks from 1969 and worn vintage-inspired fashion that reflects the legendary actress's glamorous style.
