Andy Burnham accused of Brexit hypocrisy
Andy Burnham has been accused of Brexit hypocrisy after Labour’s stance on free movement with the EU sparked confusion. The Prime Minister doubled down on the idea of returning to open borders as part of his bid to unpick Brexit, despite previously warning that free movement should never be revived after the 2016 referendum. Downing Street clarified Burnham’s comments, stating he isn’t proposing a return to free movement.
Met Police misplaced letter on Markle allegations
The Metropolitan Police reportedly misplaced a letter containing child sex allegations against Thomas Markle, sent by his ex-wife Roslyn Loveless in January 2019. The force later asked Meghan Markle if she had a copy of the letter, which she reportedly handed over. The Times claims the Met also failed to act on a previous tip-off. Loveless, who divorced Markle in 1975, died two years ago. Thomas Markle denies all allegations.

Cyclists run amok on Sadiq Khan’s Oxford Street
Cyclists flouted rules in the new pedestrian-only zone on Oxford Street during the first day of Sadiq Khan’s traffic-free scheme. The London Mayor called the move a momentous occasion for the capital, but cyclists ignored bollards instructing them to dismount. Critics warned that surrounding roads could be flooded with diverted traffic. Khan released a video unveiling the redesigned shopping street and its new restrictions.
