Burnham faces Parliament over defence spending
Andy Burnham told Parliament that national security cannot come at the expense of social security, refusing to commit Labour to raising defence spending to three percent of GDP by 2030. Martin Rolfe, head of National Air Traffic Services, is paid just over £1.4million in salary and bonuses, ten times more than the Prime Minister and three times more than his Dutch counterpart. After this week’s UK airport shutdown, Ryanair revealed UK air traffic control was linked to more than 2,700 flight delays in the first half of last year compared to just under 300 in the Netherlands. Ryanair criticised Rolfe in a message on X.
Mo Gilligan references Margolyes and Peters row
Mo Gilligan drew gasps at the National Television Awards in London after referencing the recent racism row involving Miriam Margolyes and Andi Peters. On stage, Gilligan introduced himself by saying, if you know me, I'm Mo Gilligan, but if you don't, I'm Andi Peters. The Citroën Ami was rated lowest, able to travel only 46 miles on its 8 horsepower electric motor.
