Elon Musk's record-breaking political spending has become a major talking point following significant Democratic victories in the 2026 US midterm elections.
The billionaire reportedly contributed approximately $445 million to Republican-aligned political groups and candidates, making him one of the most influential financial backers of this election cycle.
However, several candidates backed by Musk suffered major defeats, including Republican Ken Paxton in Texas, who lost to Democrat James Talarico.
Following the results, Musk responded sarcastically on X, writing: "Guess my election-interfering space lasers didn't work this time."
In this episode, we examine Musk's enormous political investment, the Democratic victories, the implications for Republican control of Congress, and what the results could mean for Musk's political influence and business interests.
