U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for re-election, just nine days before Israel’s parliamentary election scheduled for October 27, 2026.
In a message addressed to the Israeli public, Trump praised Netanyahu’s leadership and described him as a key partner in confronting Iran. He also warned that if Israel chose a different leader, the United States might have to handle some of the regional security challenges without the same level of Israeli partnership.
The endorsement comes as Netanyahu faces a competitive election following years of conflict and growing domestic debate over national security, the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attack, and Israel’s regional policies. Trump’s support underscores the close relationship between the two leaders, although its impact on Israeli voters remains uncertain.
The election could shape Israel’s political direction and its future relationship with Washington amid continuing tensions across the Middle East.
