His book <em>The Killer Whale Who Changed the World</em> won the <strong>2016 Science Writers and Communicators Award</strong>, and his comic memoir <em>Never Shoot a Stampede Queen </em>won the <strong>Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour</strong>.
