Jim hides and watches as pirates attack the inn, searching desperately for something already gone. Their leader, the blind man Pew, rages in the road until help arrives on horseback. The pirates flee, Pew is killed, and Jim finally leaves the ruined inn behind, carrying the secret everyone wanted.
