📊 THE EVIDENCE
Gallup research has found that full-time U.S. employees average roughly 47 hours per week, while about 1 in 4 salaried workers report working 60+ hours.
Technology has blurred the boundaries even further. Work can reach you almost anywhere, at almost any hour.
But the deeper question is:
Can your soul ever stop working?
💥 THE HUMAN COST
Chronic overwork can affect sleep, relationships, family life, physical well-being—and your ability to be fully present with God and those you love.
And there's a spiritual danger: when life becomes produce, achieve, accomplish, repeat, you can begin living as though everything depends on you.
📖 THE WORD
Psalm 127:2 reminds us that God gives His beloved sleep.
Jesus says:
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Rest isn't laziness.
It is an act of trust.
Hebrews 12:2 calls us to keep fixing our eyes on Jesus—not our productivity or performance.
🙏 THE PRACTICE
You may not be able to eliminate every demand. But you can stop carrying tomorrow before it arrives.
📵 Put the phone down.
🛑 Establish boundaries.
🙏 Bring your weariness to Christ.
🌿 Receive God's gift of rest.
You were created to work—but you were never created to become your work.
🧭 THE QUESTION
Where are you dwelling when the work never ends?
🌊 The waves may keep coming.
But you can still dwell in the shadow of the Almighty.
