Hollywood legend Rita Moreno is preparing for a birthday celebration with a twist: she wants her friends to roast her!
The West Side Story star will turn 95 on December 11, 2026, and she already has plans for a special dinner surrounded by friends. But instead of expecting only birthday wishes and compliments, Moreno is looking forward to being the target of some good-natured jokes.
Speaking to E! News at the 2026 Día de Muertos Gala on October 27, Moreno joked that she was sure people would be insulting her throughout the evening. When asked whether she was happy to be roasted, her response was simple: “Why not?”
She added that her guests could do whatever they wanted, as long as the celebration included plenty of toasts too.
The legendary performer is also reflecting on a career spanning more than eight decades. An EGOT winner, Moreno made history with her Academy Award-winning performance in West Side Story and has continued to break barriers for Latino performers in Hollywood.
Recently, she received the Vida y Legado (Life & Legacy) Award at the Día de Muertos event in recognition of her career and impact.
