The final goodbye to Matthew Perry has been revisited in a new Netflix documentary, with his sister sharing an emotional memory of the Friends cast gathering around his casket.
In The One About Matthew Perry, a three-part documentary directed by Mary Robertson, Perry’s sister, Mia Perry Bowick, recalls the actor’s private funeral in November 2023. She said Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc arrived together.
Bowick remembered that Aniston approached her first and gave her a hug, followed by the other cast members. Then, in one of the most emotional moments of the service, all five actors walked towards Perry’s casket holding hands and stood around him in tears.
The documentary, which premiered on Netflix on October 27, 2026, explores Perry’s life beyond his iconic role as Chandler Bing, including his struggles with addiction and the people who supported him.
The Friends cast members were invited to participate in the documentary but chose not to give interviews. Director Mary Robertson said she understood that everyone processes grief differently.
