Alexis Sullivan, a student at&nbsp;Boston College, attended the festival and talked to some of the filmmakers who were there presenting their films.</p><p><br></p><p>In this podcast Alexis chats to Niall Heery the writer/director of&nbsp;Gold, an offbeat comedy about an estranged father who returns to his hometown after an absence of ten years to reconnect with his teenage daughter and ex-wife.</p><p><br></p><p>Gold&nbsp;screened on Thursday, 19th March 2015 at the Irish Film Festival, Boston.</p><p><br></p><p>Niall Heery</p><p>Niall joined the industry as an assistant script editor on Fox Network’s ‘Mystic Knights of Tir na N-Og’ and their feature film ‘Saint Patrick, an Irish Legend’. He wrote and directed the short films ‘The Edge of Defeat’ and ‘Summit’ which won numerous awards on the European festival circuit. Music promos directed include ‘Wired to the Moon’ and ‘Death of a DJ’ by The Revs. ‘Death of a DJ’ was nominated for Best Video at the Irish Meteor Music Awards.</p><p><br></p><p>Niall was the ‘Technical Assistant to the Director’, Antoine Fuqua, on Jerry Bruckheimer’s ‘King Arthur’. His first feature film ‘Small Engine Repair’, staring Iain Glen and Steven Mackintosh, won multiple awards including Best Film at the Galway Film Fleadh, the Nashville Film Festival, the Boston Film Festival as well as Best Newcomer at 2007 Irish Film and Television awards. His latest feature film Gold, starring James Nesbitt, Maisie Williams and David Wilmot, will be released theatrically in October 2014. He has numerous projects in development including ‘RPG’ which is being produced by Subotica Entertainment in Dublin.---</p><p><br></p><p>Gold</p><p>Out of their lives for 12 years, Ray is on a mission to re-connect with his ex-girlfriend, and teenage daughter who live with his former controlling and regimented P.E. teacher.  Unfortunately his efforts to bridge the gap with his daughter seem to lead to chaos turning any good intentions he may have into comic catastrophe.</p><p><br></p><p>Starring Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), James Nesbitt (The Hobbit), David Wilmot (Ripper Street) and Kerry Condon (Believe, The Waking Dead).
