These enormous geoglyphs were created by removing the top layer of reddish stones and exposing the lighter-colored ground beneath, resulting in distinct patterns that stretch across several hundred square kilometers. They were seriously discovered during the 1920s, when airplanes began crossing the area and revealed the enormous shapes that are not fully visible from the ground.

The Nazca Lines consist of more than 800 straight lines, 300 geometric figures, and approximately 70 animal and plant motifs, including monkeys, spiders, birds, and whales. Some of the lines stretch for several kilometers and have incredible precision, which has led to many theories about how and why they were created. The most widely accepted theory is that they had a religious or astronomical significance and were used by the Nazca people in ceremonies connected to water and fertility worship, as the area is extremely dry and dependent on water resources.

Other, more speculative theories suggest that the lines were a form of calendar or were even created with the help of extraterrestrial technology, but there is no scientific evidence for these claims. Researchers believe that the Nazca people used simple tools and ropes to create the lines and that their remarkable geometry was the result of careful planning and organization.

Although the lines have been well preserved thanks to the dry climate of the Nazca Desert, they are threatened by both human activity and climate change. In recent years, illegal mining and road construction have caused damage to certain parts of the geoglyphs. UNESCO designated the area a World Heritage Site in 1994 to help protect and preserve these unique and mysterious ground drawings.

The Nazca Lines continue to fascinate both researchers and visitors from around the world, and although much has been discovered about their origins and function, many questions remain, making them one of history's greatest mysteries.
","author_name":"Alternativ Historia "}
