The Enfield Poltergeist case gained attention in 1977 when a single mother in North London reported that furniture was moving by itself and that the children heard knocking sounds in the walls and ceilings. The activity centered around the eleven-year-old daughter Janet, whom witnesses described as the center of both physical phenomena and a deeply altered voice that seemed to speak through her. Several investigators documented events that appeared difficult to explain, such as levitations, objects being thrown without any visible force, and a heavy chest of drawers being moved across the floor. At the same time, skeptics argued that some of the phenomena could have been caused by children playing tricks, misunderstandings, or exaggerated interpretations. Despite this, some observations remain without a completely satisfactory explanation to this day, making the Enfield case one of the most debated haunted-house cases of modern times.
