It is not always an emotional response, but often a quiet, steady willingness to remain present, even when we cannot fix or remove what is difficult.

We begin by settling into stillness and becoming aware of the breath. From there, you are gently invited to bring to mind an area of suffering, either within yourself or in the world around you. Rather than turning away, we practise staying, holding this experience with care and gentleness.

Like holding a small bird in the hand, the practice is not to grasp or control, but to be present with sensitivity and respect. In doing so, we discover that compassion is not something we force, but something that can grow through attention and awareness.

As the meditation deepens, this compassionate presence expands outward, allowing us to hold both personal and shared suffering within a wider field of peace.

This meditation offers a moment of calm, whether you are pausing during the day or winding down before sleep, helping you meet suffering with steadiness, openness and compassion.

Chapters

00:00 – Introduction

00:20 – What compassion means

00:50 – Being with suffering

01:50 – Compassion as a steady act

02:14 – Meditation and compassionate action

02:35 – The bell

03:10 – Entering with openness

03:59 – Awareness of the breath

05:10 – Bringing suffering to mind

06:00 – Before and after suffering

06:41 – Holding with gentleness

09:50 – Expanding compassion outward

10:15 – Witnessing the suffering of the world

10:40 – Breathing with compassion

11:35 – We are more than suffering

13:10 – Closing bell

","author_name":"Cutdown Studios"}
