I’m drilling down more from people into the value of having a person, partner, duo, buddy, a yin to your yang. Someone to lean on and be in the trenches with you. Because sometimes you just need to not be alone.
Nothing happens in a vacuum. Even those of us that individual sports & lone wolfs out there (including me, a self-described introvert who just happens to love talking to people), aren’t entirely alone as we wander through life. It takes people. More importantly, it takes good people that mean well, try hard, and do the right thing to support one another. As evidenced by the last third of this episode, this hits home especially for me. It doesn’t always take a lot of time or a heavy lift to make a positive impact on those around you. Sometimes it’s just setting a good example. Sometimes it’s just listening. Sometimes it’s not gatekeeping the lessons you’ve learned. Sometimes it is a heavy lift. Sometimes it is going out of your way to be helpful to someone. Sometimes it does take effort. My point is that it comes in all different shapes, sizes, volumes, and even morphs over time and through changing circumstances. Regardless, it matters. It’s impactful. The way we treat people is meaningful. The way we interact with our community is powerful, even when it doesn’t feel that way.
Alright. That’s enough. Let’s go leave this place better than we found it.
