Matthew Schaefer continues to take the NHL by storm, the New York Rangers are shaking up their lineup, and the New Jersey Devils face questions following a tough loss to Colorado on Episode 68 of the Tri-State Hockey Podcast!
Jonny Lazarus, Mike Rupp, and Arthur Staple kick things off with the New York Islanders, who have won four of their last six games following a thrilling overtime victory against the Minnesota Wild. The guys discuss Matthew Schaefer's incredible performance, whether he's already entering the Norris Trophy conversation, the impact of Peter DeBoer, and which Islanders could become trade candidates later this season.
The conversation shifts to the New York Rangers, where Mike Sullivan's latest lineup changes have sparked debate. Is moving Gabe Perreault to the third line the right decision? The guys break down Pavel Dorofeyev's struggles, the Rangers' lack of consistency, and whether the team is handling its young players properly.
Then, it's all about the New Jersey Devils following their difficult loss to the Colorado Avalanche. Mike Rupp questions Sheldon Keefe's approach to the defeat, while the guys debate whether there's really such a thing as a "scheduled loss" for a Stanley Cup contender.
Plus, could Dylan Larkin be the Devils' next blockbuster addition? The guys discuss potential landing spots for the disgruntled Detroit Red Wings captain, including New Jersey, Carolina, and Washington.
