This is the eighteenth episode: “I Move For A Bad Court Thingy”.

The featured character in this episode’s Spotlight On Springfield is Lionel Hutz: lawyer, conman and part-time purveyor of expert shoe repairs. Featured in no fewer than 50 episodes, Hutz’s unique brand of brash haplessness was sorely missed when, with the death of voice artist Phil Hartman in 1998, the character was retired from speaking roles. We also examine the question that has been puzzling Simpsons fans ever since the “law talking guy” first made an appearance in Season Two: How does Lionel Hutz keep getting work?

As well as dipping into our listener postbag, we explore Ian’s second pick from Season 8, that celebration of alcohol and freedom that is Homer v. the Eighteenth Amendment. In this evergreen episode, Homer and his brain actually pull together for what may be the first and last time – to overcome the newly enforced Prohibition laws in Springfield and get back to killing his brain cells with beer.

If you would like to send us a voice message to include in the show, we have set up a special page on SpeakPipe: https://www.speakpipe.com/EatThePudding.
