Welcome to the Eat The Pudding fan podcast, where Michael and Ian explore the Simpsons universe in all its colourful and cromulent forms. This is the sixteenth episode: “Guilty As Charged”.
This week’s Spotlight On Springfield is on a man with big shoes to fill: Sideshow Bob, arguably the most cultivated person in Springfield and, with the possible exception of Maggie Simpson, the most psychopathic. We trace the velvet-voiced villain’s evolution in a series of evergreen Bob-centric episodes and ask ourselves why the authorities insist on letting him out of prison every season.
As part of our Late Bloomers segment, we dip a tentative toe into the murky waters of late-period Simpsons with a Season 24 episode called To Cur With Love. As well as this, we pay tribute to recently departed country music queen Dolly Parton and discuss the lacklustre episode she guest-starred in and what we would have done better. But, as ever, no one bothered to ask us our opinion and now it’s too late.
