Welcome to the Eat The Pudding fan podcast, where Michael and Ian explore the Simpsons universe in all its colourful and cromulent forms. This is the thirteenth episode: “Did It Just Get Fatter In Here?”.
This episode’s Spotlight On Springfield is on Patty and Selma, Marge’s chain-smoking, gravel-voiced elder sisters. We discuss the subtle differences between the twin Gorgons and trace the history of their failed romantic attachments and their successful hate-hate relationship with brother-in-law Homer.
Meanwhile, the semi-regular Songs Of Springfield segment sees us donning our skimpiest outfits in honour of the barnstorming number at the end of the Season 8 moral conundrum that is Bart After Dark. Like the Monorail Song before it, this jaunty tune makes excellent use of a whole stable of different Simpsons characters, all of whom have gathered in the grounds of the scurrilous Maison Derriere. Oh, won’t somebody PLEASE think of the children?!
