Lara and Carey are back with another Genius Alert, this time with novelist and former criminal defense attorney, Anna Dorn. They discuss law school being a scam, stanning David Rudolf, and the proper southern girl to LA lesbian pipeline.
Then Anna invites SUP to come with her back to 2014, where the first season of Southern Charm makes landfall in Charleston. They discuss the sixth episode in the seminal (and deeply troubling) first season, where Thomas Ravenel's and Kathryn Calhoun Dennis' torrid love story exists in its nascent stage. Reeling from their drunken fight on Carolina Day, Whitney plans to bury his hatchet with sometimes-bestie Thomas, as Cameran tours a clearly haunted house with her new boss, Eve, and gets drinks with her bestie Jenna aka Che Diaz aka Beetlejuice; Craig goes off to his fake job at the law firm; Both Pat and pal Brian advises Whitney to not go into the restaurant business with Shep; Thomas gets the OK from his “political consultant” about dating a 21-year-old.
Then, Mr. Ravenel summons the crew to his boozy abode, where he evokes Tennessee Williams in a speech about staying true to yourself and calls out Shep, Dani and Whitney for being fake ass bitches. He also reveals his biggest regret in life involving a beverage cart girl, much to the chagrin of Kathryn. Not surprisingly, Craig slut-shames Kathryn in front of Thomas, who does nothing to defend the honor of the future mother of his children. Just another day in Good Ol’ Charleston…
