But as the experiments continued, the phenomena became increasingly bizarre. Voices emerged from the darkness. Messages appeared on photographic film. Objects materialized out of nowhere. And then, in April 1998, something resembling a face appeared on a video screen.

The group called it Blue.

By November of that year, the experiment had come to an abrupt end. According to the communicators, the group had opened an interdimensional doorway that was attracting dangerous interference from forces they couldn't control.

But what actually happened inside the Scole Hole?

In Part Two, we turn the lights on and investigate the evidence. We examine the controversial Scole Report, the skeptical researchers who challenged its conclusions, and the competing explanations for the strange lights, disembodied voices, mysterious objects, and images that appeared on photographic film. We also investigate the Germanium Receptor, the Project Alice videotapes, and Walter Schnittger's remarkable experiments using his own film and locked container.

Along the way, we separate documented events from paranormal claims, explore the conspiracy theories surrounding alleged government involvement, and confront the biggest question of all: Could a five-year experiment involving hundreds of séances really be explained away as trickery, misperception, and coincidence?

The evidence isn't as straightforward as either side would like you to believe.

The Scole Experiment didn't conclusively prove life after death. But declaring the entire case a hoax doesn't account for every unanswered question, either.

After five years, more than 500 sittings, and a bitter divide among the investigators themselves, one thing is clear: the experiment never managed to answer its own question.

And whatever was, or wasn't, happening in that cellar, the people who spent five years asking the other side to show itself were eventually told to stop asking.

This is Paranormal Directive 13.
