Welcome to Season 3 of Triggered!
In May 2008, 18-year-old Joshua Maddux told his sister he was going for a walk and left their home in Woodland Park, Colorado. He never came back.
For seven years his family held onto hope. Josh was brilliant, creative and a gifted musician, and they told themselves he might be out there somewhere, living his life.
Then, in August 2015, a demolition crew started tearing down an abandoned cabin less than a mile from the Maddux home. When they reached the stone chimney, they found him.
Josh was folded inside the narrow flue with his knees above his head, wearing only a thermal shirt. The rest of his clothes and his shoes were found beside the fireplace. The coroner ruled his death an accident: a teenager who tried to get into an empty cabin through the chimney and got stuck. But the cabin’s owner doesn’t believe it, and neither do many of the people who have looked closely at this case.
Why would anyone take off their clothes and then climb down a chimney? How did nobody notice for seven years? And was this really a tragic mistake, or something much darker?
