As our girl Audrey is fresh back from her big birthday, Tolly wanted to make sure the celebration was marked with panache and so, enlisted the help of the King of Pop himself to mark the auspicious occasion. Perhaps 17 years in the afterlife have taken their toll on the musical legend, but it was still a Thriller of an occasion.... brace yourselves.
The Receipts then does what it does best, as after the mayhem of a visitation by MJ, Tolly and Audrey welcome the historian, journalist and author, Paula Akpan to the studio to talk about her incredible new book ‘When We Ruled’, exploring the amazing stories of twelve African queens and warriors who ruled vast swathes of the African continent, and whose impact can still be felt today, but so few of us have ever heard their names.
