Hello and welcome to the grateful web art podcast with me Dr Jo Clements. Today I am delighted to be joined by the award winning multimedia artist, Musician, curator and performer Ruby Tingle.
Tingles’ practice reconstructs the readymade and familiar into the fantastical, presenting unnatural histories, dreamworlds and new myths which blur the lines between science and cryptozoology. A fascination with the romance, folklore and creatures of wetlands habitat, herpetology, the botanical and the curious or hidden in nature, roots her material and conceptual investigation. Her Swamp princess 'persona' exists both in reality and performance- her daily life reovolving around the care of pet amphibians and reptiles, wildlife, and wandering her local nature reserve in ballgowns.
Ruby is represented by No Such Thing Records & PAPER Gallery.

I began this podcast because I wanted to support and celebrate artists, curators and creative people across the North West , and to create a record of the brilliant work happening here.
The podcast is free and independent, and that’s something I really want to keep. But making it takes a lot of time, and it’s the support of listeners that allows me to keep doing it.
So, if you enjoy these conversations and want to help keep The Grateful Web Art Podcast going, you can become a Patreon supporter. It’s a small way of being part of the project, and your support helps me continue to find, meet, talk to artists, and share their work with a wider audience.
You can also help simply by subscribing, leaving a review, or sharing an episode with someone who might enjoy it. It genuinely makes a difference.
