This week on Running Loose, we’re coming to you from Tattersalls in Newmarket, where £128 million has changed hands in just three days of the yearling sales.
Francesca and Vanessa unpack the extraordinary money being spent on horses, the dream behind buying a yearling and what it takes for a horse to stand out in the sales ring. They also look back at the Arc, discuss the pressure and ego involved in bloodstock, and hear about the life-changing moments happening around the sales.
Then there’s a very exciting announcement: Team Running Loose is heading down under for the Melbourne Cup. Vanessa faces a crash course in Australian racing, from the mounting yard and the Birdcage to “roughies”, while Francesca tries to prepare her for the trip — and for a packed wardrobe.
Plus, the trainers’ championship, Tattersalls’ surprisingly good social scene, and the story of Vanessa’s latest social grenade…
