Editing a movie musical? That feels like a whole different level of filmmaking wizardry.

This week we're wrapping up our deep dive into post-production editing with Alexander Jeffery, Producer, Cinematographer, and Editor of one of our favorite indie films of the past year, Peeping Todd.

We're going to ask about the unique challenges of editing a musical, how being your own cinematographer might have helped the process, how integral the planning process was, and if that prep work showed up in the editing bay. Join us as we pick Alexander's brain and continue our quest to learn everything we can about finishing a feature film

.

Alexander Jeffery hails from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, was raised in El Dorado, Arkansas, and is now based in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he co-owns the production company Bespoke Works LLC with his friend and longtime collaborator, Paul Petersen. After receiving a double major in Theatre Performance and Film & New Media from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2011, Alexander moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams of acting and filmmaking. Quickly realizing Los Angeles wasn’t the right fit for him, Alexander moved back to the South to make low-budget, independent films with his friends.

His first feature film, A Chance Encounter, was released by Samuel Goldwyn Films in the fall of 2022, both theatrically and on-demand, after winning the audience choice award at Heartland Film Festival in 2020. In 2015, his short film The Bespoke Tailoring of Mister Bellamy won the $50,000 Grand Prize at the Louisiana Film Prize. MTV called it “an acutely relevant, achingly human film.” Recently, his documentary The Power of Pickleball was released by Documentary+ and is on 7 airlines internationally. Alexander’s first venture into television, the indie TV pilot Fixation, premiered at SeriesFest in May 2026.

Turns Out It’s the Apocalypse… We Think on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/turnsoutmovie/

Turns Out It’s the Apocalypse… We Think on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61581798639056

We’re Making a Movie is a podcast that follows the behind-the-scenes adventures of two first-time filmmakers, sharing honest insights and lessons learned to inspire others on their filmmaking journey.

A Podcast from first-time filmmakers - for first-time filmmakers.

WANT TO HELP US MAKE A MOVIE?

PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/sneakypineapple

Merch: https://sneaky-pineapple.myspreadshop.com/

BUSINESS TIME!

Subscribe to this Channel: https://goo.gl/qjbptE

Available wherever you get your podcasts!

Acast - https://shows.acast.com/were-making-a-movie

Apple - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/were-making-a-movie/id1799476284

Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/1lKYtG3GiIouwXEcCz9UvK?si=dd999e0f669b4307

Amazon/ Audible - https://amzn.to/4koHAX9

Pandora - https://www.pandora.com/podcast/were-making-a-movie/PC:1001099016

SOCIAL MEDIA REQUIREMENTS

TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@natalieandtara

Instagram https://www.instagram.com/natalieandtara/

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NatalieandTara

Twitter: https://twitter.com/NatalieNTara

Wanna reach us?
