In the heat of summer I made my way to one of my favourite cities in the world, Shanghai to interview one of my favourite all time podcast hosts and creators, Amber Akilla. DJ, music curator, host of the friend crush podcast, Amber is iconic for her radical perspectives on feminism, culture and her life philosophy of being hot and having fun which has sparked many an interesting discussion on the possibilities for women and queer individuals in today's society. While it was the first time we've met in person, we connected deeply on our roots growing up in Perth, Western Australia and our views on navigating the music industry and life as individuals from the diaspora.
