Fresh from releasing his debut novella Miller Rose Roberts, Joseph Millson is playing Monsieur André in the 40th anniversary cast of The Phantom of the Opera at His Majesty’s Theatre.


Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera first opened in London's West End in 1986 and has become one of the world's most successful musicals. Joseph joins the anniversary cast alongside Sierra Boggess, reuniting with his former Love Never Dies leading lady more than 15 years after they originated the roles of Raoul and Christine in the original London production.


Joseph is also a writer. His memoir Work – And Other Four Letter Words was shortlisted for the Theatre Book Prize, while his debut fiction novella, Miller Rose Roberts, has recently been published.


Joseph has worked extensively across theatre, with credits including The Forsyte Saga, The Rover (RSC), Much Ado About Nothing, King John, Merchant of Venice 1936 (West End), Noises Off (West End), Betrayal (Theatre Royal, Bath), Mary Poppins (West End), Mr Foote's Other Leg (West End), Macbeth (Shakespeare's Globe), The Fairy Queen (Glyndebourne), Love Never Dies (West End – WhatsOnStage Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical), The Clearing and The Mill on the Floss (Shared Experience), The Real Inspector Hound / Black Comedy (West End), David Copperfield (Sheffield Crucible), The Fantasticks (King's Head Theatre) and David Copperfield: The Musical! (National Tour).


His screen credits include The Amateur, Creation Stories, Angel Has Fallen, Casino Royale, Moon Knight, Professor T, The Last Kingdom, Endeavour, Grantchester, Penny Dreadful, The Chelsea Detective, Midsomer Murders, New Tricks, EastEnders and Doctors. He has also performed in over 50 radio plays and was nominated for Best Actor at the BBC Radio Drama Awards.
