Melissa has co-written the show with Jamie Alexander Wilson who is also directing whilst musical direction and arrangements are by Sam Hall. <br/><br/>Melissa’s regional theatre credits include: <em>Little Shop of Horrors, Me and My Girl, Spend Spend Spend, Crazy For You, Oliver!, Company, Into The Woods </em>and many more. <br/><br/>Melissa understudied Donna, Rosie and Tanya in the original West End cast of<em> Mamma Mia!</em> In 1999. She had a total of three stints in the show and later became the alternate Donna. <br/><br/>Some of Melissa’s other theatre credits include understudying Madame Morrible in <em>Wicked </em>(Apollo Victoria Theatre), playing Trish in<em> Kinky Boots </em>(Adelphi Theatre) and starring as Carol’s Mum in the semi-staged performances of <em>42 Balloons</em> (Vaudeville Theatre). <br/><br/>Melissa joined the West End production of <em>Everybody’s Talking About Jamie </em>(Apollo Theatre) as the standby for Margaret, Ray and Miss Hedge in 2018. The following year Melissa took over as Margaret to tremendous acclaim and stayed with the production until it closed in 2021. Melissa later reprised her performance when the musical had its US premiere in LA in 2022. <br/><br/>Melissa’s screen credits include <em>Doctors, Disenchanted </em>and the upcoming film adaptation of <em>Wicked</em>. <br/><br/>In this episode Melissa discusses juggling being a mum with being on tour, her life changing audition for<em> Everybody’s Talking About Jamie </em>and the influences behind her new solo show, plus lots more! <br/><br/><em>Songs My Father Told Me I Should Sing </em>plays the Phoenix Arts Club on Monday 8th July.
