Potboiler is an old term for pulpy paperback genre writing that’s just the right amount of bitter, to make you appreciate the sweet.
Let’s do the intro.
The night started with the rumbling thunder of a storm approaching from the west.
Young Hollow Grim watches his legendary lawman father, Marshall Charlie Grim, stand in front of Worm Worthington and his men, with a lucrative offer he can only refuse, and with Dent Cranley to his right with an uncertain allegiance.
It is starting to become obvious that this stand off offers no peaceful conclusion. Hollow and Doc watch with relative helplessness as the rain rolls in and the Marshal remains outnumbered and unwilling to back down.
The end is bitter, the story is sweeter.
