Deb Grant was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland.
She developed a passion for music from an early age, having started buying records and DJing by the time she was 15 years old.
Growing up in the 1990s, her musical trajectory was shaped by Dublin's pirate radio scene (particularly a station called Spectrum 101, which later evolved into Phantom FM), as well as a strong interest in 1960s and 1970s mod culture.
At the age of 18, she relocated to London to study music, and she is currently based in Manchester.
Broadcasting Career
Early in her broadcasting career, she went by the pseudonym \"Anne Frankenstein,\" hosting shows on Resonance FM and presenting programs such as Late Night Jazz and Sunday Drive on Jazz FM.
In January 2022, she announced she would be dropping her pseudonym to broadcast professionally under her real name.
After joining BBC Radio 6 Music in 2023, she became the co-host of the flagship weekday evening show New Music Fix Daily, which focuses on breaking new and underground music.
She initially launched the program alongside Tom Ravenscroft, but following his departure from the station in 2025, she now presents the show with Nathan Shepherd.
Writing and Other Media
Outside of her radio work, Grant is a writer who contributes a regular monthly music column for The Big Issue.
In 2024, she appeared in the critically acclaimed documentary Getting It Back: The Story of Cymande, and she subsequently hosted a Q&A event with the band at the British Film Institute in London.
She also served as part of the BBC's presentation team covering both the Glastonbury Festival and the Mercury Prize in 2025.
