On this episode, Mark is joined by the excellent Neil Barber to discuss his new book 'The Red Devils on D-Day: The River Dives Bridges, From Drop Zone to Destruction'. Building upon his previous excellent research for 'Pegasus Bridge' and 'The Day the Devils Dropped In', Neil brings to the fore many unsung events in the popular history particularly about the unknown bridges to secure the Allied eastern Flank during Operation OVERLORD. Neil discusses the bridges, his recollections of the veterans he knew, thoughts on the events for the British Parachute Regiment and the emotional elements of researching individuals conducting these actions during D-Day. Additionally, Neil also runs battlefield studies about 6th Airborne Division through ArmyGroup1944.
