Gary has gone AWOL this week, despite his beloved Manchester United managing to avoid defeat against Leeds United. So, Ben is flying solo, joined by fellow Leeds fan Steve Scott, Event Director of the world-famous Kendal Mountain Festival.
Steve has been at the helm for more than 20 years, so who better to talk about how the festival began, how it's grown and where it's heading next?
We get into the festival's biggest highlights, the challenges of organising an event of this scale and how its audience has changed over the years, including the huge growth of trail running.
From the Trail 10K and ultra races to SportsShoes' O-GAMES, the new Mackyard Ultra and the ever-expanding programme of trail running talks, films and sessions, we explore how running has become such an important part of the Kendal experience.
We also discuss the value of the SportsShoes partnership, the exciting line-up and activations planned for this year's festival, and what the future might look like, including the prospect of taking Kendal Mountain Festival to the south of the country for a summer event.
And, of course, there's the big question: will Ben ever deliver on his promise to get Kilian Jornet to Kendal?
If you're into trail running, mountain sports, outdoor films or the people behind the events we love, this one's well worth a listen.
