Pastor Moffat concluded the Spiritual Habits of Transformation series with a timely reminder that every believer has a personal responsibility to remain connected to Christ.
Using the picture of the vine and the branches from John 15, he reminded us that lasting spiritual fruit cannot be produced through human strength alone. Just as a branch cannot survive or bear fruit when separated from the vine, we cannot grow, overcome sin or fulfil God’s purpose for our lives apart from Jesus.
The message challenged us to recognise the attitudes and behaviours that interfere with our relationship with God, including pride, unbelief, sexual immorality, bitterness, unforgiveness and worldliness. These things weaken our spiritual lives, harden our hearts and prevent us from becoming the people God has called us to be.
However, transformation is possible as we intentionally practise spiritual habits such as prayer, studying and meditating on God’s Word, fasting, forgiveness, worship and faithful service in the local church. These disciplines are not merely religious activities; they are ways of remaining connected to Christ and allowing His life to flow through us.
The invitation from Sunday’s message was simple but powerful: Abide in Christ. As we remain in Him, He transforms our hearts, renews our minds and enables us to bear fruit that brings glory to God.
