In May 2006, 32-year-old Rey Rivera vanished after receiving a mysterious phone call at his
Baltimore home. Eight days later, his body was discovered inside an unused conference room at
the historic Belvedere Hotel, beneath a hole in the roof. His glasses and phone were found
nearby, strangely undamaged.
Authorities initially theorized he jumped from the hotel’s rooftop, but questions about the
distance, lack of witnesses, and unexplained circumstances led the medical examiner to rule the
cause of death as “undetermined.” Rey’s family believes foul play may have been involved. His
case, featured in Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries (“Mystery on the Rooftop”), remains unsolved.
