In this episode, we move from the “why” and the \"who\" of the NSDI into the “what.”
What are the core components and technologies that make the NSDI work? What role do spatial data and metadata standards play? How do repositories, databases, surveying, GIS, remote sensing, and other technologies fit together? And what does it really mean for a dataset to be national in scope, quality, accessibility, and usefulness?
Our goal in this episode is to establish a practical understanding of the building blocks of the NSDI so we can focus the conversation on how those pieces come together, where gaps remain, and what it will take to build and sustain a stronger national geospatial infrastructure.
