The first stabbing happened around 8:30 a.m. at 444 West 19th Street, where a 36-year-old construction worker was fatally stabbed. The second incident occurred at 10:30 a.m. at 500 East 30th Street, where a 68-year-old man was stabbed to death while fishing. A third stabbing took place at 10:55 a.m. at East 42nd Street and First Avenue, where a 36-year-old woman was critically injured.</p><p><br></p><p>The suspect was taken into custody at East 46th Street and First Avenue after a cab driver witnessed one of the stabbings and alerted the police. The attacks are believed to be unprovoked, with the suspect initiating disputes with the victims before stabbing them.</p><p><br></p><p>The suspect has a history of eight prior arrests and is reported to have severe mental health challenges, raising questions about why he was not in a controlled environment.
