Drafted in 2010 under the father-son rule, Mitch’s dad being Footscray legend Stephen Wallis. Known for his versatility and strong work ethic, Mitch debuted in 2011 and became a key player for the team, contributing both as a midfielder and forward. Wallis is recognised for his leadership qualities, he was vice-captain under Marcus Bontempelli, and his resilience, particularly after facing challenges with injuries during his career - Mitch severely broke his leg in 2016 which left him out of the historic Bulldogs' 2016 premiership-winning team, which ended a 62-year premiership drought for the club.
