This week on Two Girl Cinema Club, we flashback to last year and watch some of the 2025 Best Picture nominees. Before we dive into some of those films, we give a thorough review of Love is Blind season 10 now that the finale has dropped. We reveal a couple connections to some of the people featured on this season as fellow Ohioans, and give all our thoughts on which couples we think will last. If Christine and Vic don’t last forever, we’ll actually lose our minds! Ailish brought some industry news and award talk after the Actor (SAG) Awards last weekend, and Hannah watched a few movies this week. She gives an honest review of Scream 7 as a fan of the franchise, and Annihilation with Natalie Portman.
If you remember our podcasts from this time last year, you’ll remember that we loved The Substance and Anora. We’re happy to report that after rewatching these films, they still really hold up for us and we actually think we like them more after watching again. There’s still some debate within ourselves on whether we think Mikey Madison or Demi Moore should have won the Oscar, but both of them give great performances in these films. It might be hard to believe, but watching The Substance was almost more disturbing at times as we watched it at home! The Brutalist was a very discussed film last year, but it was one neither of us were able to see. After watching over three hours of this, we have to say we aren’t fans. Adrian Brody did a great job in his role, however, the role didn’t give very much. Make sure to listen next week as we give all our Oscars predictions and review some more films from last year’s Best Picture nominees!
