AI features in smartphones are not widely used despite recent updates. Apple’s iOS 18.2 upgrade improved AI capabilities, yet approximately 58.4% of iPhone users and 53.1% of Samsung users have not utilized these tools. Key reasons include software not being updated for 57.6% of Apple users and perceived lack of usefulness for 44.2% of Samsung users. Concerns over accuracy affected 18.2% of Apple users and 35.5% of Samsung users. Commonly used features among Apple users include writing tools and notification summaries, while Samsung users prefer the Circle to Search feature. Less than 4% of Samsung users utilize additional capabilities such as live translate. Strong brand loyalty persists, with 78.9% of Apple users and 67.2% of Samsung users unwilling to switch brands for better AI features, and over 80% of participants unwilling to pay for AI capabilities.
