A Border Patrol agent answering what looks like a major crossing event arrives in the Arizona desert expecting smugglers or a mass migrant trail and instead finds a stripped-out absence: abandoned shoes, dead radios, and a gouged circular trench as if something huge touched down and rose again. Before he can make sense of it, federal pressure closes in from every side. At a remote aid station, water drums have been smashed, the walls are streaked with handprints, and the place looks less like a rescue point than a sorting site where people were held and removed in batches. When the agent links up with the lone survivor he canโt turn over, the two of them become targets of the same sweep that is clearing witnesses off the map.
