Edwin and Magda are the couple behind Curious Roo Coffee Roasters, a project documenting their journey driving a Mercedes Sprinter van from London to Australia with their three children, all in pursuit of a world record: delivering a single bag of coffee, roasted the morning they left, all the way to Australia. Leaving behind 14 years running their own coffee business, they set out to prove that raising curious, adaptable kids might be one of the best things a family can do together.
Their current adventure takes them overland through Europe and a rare detour through Chechnya into Russia, across Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan, through China with a guide in tow, and down into Southeast Asia, with a final stretch through Indonesia before an 87-hour ferry crossing and the last leg into Australia. Along the way, they share the realities of homeschooling on the move, saying goodbye and hello to their beloved van Daisy as she's trucked between countries, and the small, unscripted acts of kindness — a stranger's 20-minute detour, a shared cup of coffee — that keep reminding them the world is kinder than the headlines suggest.
