{"version":"1.0","type":"rich","provider_name":"Acast","provider_url":"https://acast.com","height":250,"width":700,"html":"<iframe src=\"https://embed.acast.com/$/660030ee8d6ad80016ba0381/661d48fda66b730016d15eec?\" frameBorder=\"0\" width=\"700\" height=\"250\"></iframe>","title":"Positive Psychology & Behavioural Change with Psychologist Serena Simmons","thumbnail_width":200,"thumbnail_height":200,"thumbnail_url":"https://open-images.acast.com/shows/660030ee8d6ad80016ba0381/1713616272569-e959d2ca8b6cd9922a3e3942fa59496f.jpeg?height=200","description":"<p>&nbsp;</p><p>We kick off series 10 with a fantastic guest,&nbsp;chartered psychologist&nbsp;and&nbsp;founder&nbsp;of&nbsp;The&nbsp;Psychology&nbsp;School, Serena Simmons.&nbsp;We’ve&nbsp;been&nbsp;looking&nbsp;forward&nbsp;to&nbsp;chatting&nbsp;withSerena&nbsp;since&nbsp;we met her at Therapy Expo&nbsp;where&nbsp;she&nbsp;blew&nbsp;us away&nbsp;with&nbsp;her&nbsp;talk.</p><p>Serena&nbsp;has&nbsp;worked&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;area&nbsp;of&nbsp;psychology&nbsp;and&nbsp;mental health&nbsp;for&nbsp;almost&nbsp;30&nbsp;years,&nbsp;she&nbsp;has&nbsp;over&nbsp;22&nbsp;years’&nbsp;experience working&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;field&nbsp;and&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;senior&nbsp;lecturer&nbsp;at&nbsp;NottinghamTrent&nbsp;University.</p><p>She&nbsp;is&nbsp;heavily&nbsp;involved&nbsp;in&nbsp;a&nbsp;variety&nbsp;of&nbsp;forensic&nbsp;based&nbsp;work too.&nbsp;Serena&nbsp;specialises&nbsp;in&nbsp;serial&nbsp;murder&nbsp;and&nbsp;she&nbsp;still&nbsp;advises on&nbsp;a&nbsp;consultation&nbsp;basis.&nbsp;Much&nbsp;of&nbsp;her&nbsp;work&nbsp;now&nbsp;however&nbsp;is&nbsp;in the&nbsp;capacity&nbsp;of&nbsp;profiling&nbsp;and&nbsp;media&nbsp;work,&nbsp;for&nbsp;example&nbsp;you may&nbsp;have&nbsp;seen&nbsp;her&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;TV&nbsp;series&nbsp;‘Cops&nbsp;Who&nbsp;Kill’.</p><p>Serena&nbsp;says,&nbsp;‘many&nbsp;people&nbsp;struggle&nbsp;to&nbsp;see&nbsp;the&nbsp;link&nbsp;between forensic&nbsp;psychology&nbsp;and&nbsp;positive&nbsp;psychology&nbsp;and&nbsp;behavioural change.’</p><p>With her&nbsp;speciality&nbsp;in&nbsp;effecting&nbsp;change&nbsp;using&nbsp;positive psychology&nbsp;and&nbsp;with&nbsp;so&nbsp;many&nbsp;of&nbsp;us&nbsp;in&nbsp;midlife&nbsp;trying&nbsp;to negotiate&nbsp;so&nbsp;many&nbsp;changes&nbsp;we&nbsp;wanted&nbsp;to&nbsp;hear&nbsp;more.&nbsp;We&nbsp;find out why making healthy lifestyle changes can be so hard, we also discuss&nbsp;self-care, guilt,&nbsp;the importance of play and serial killers- not necessarily all at the same time!&nbsp;</p><p>You can watch the full unedited interview on our Womenkind Collective YouTube channel.&nbsp;</p><p>  We discuss guilt, self care (&amp; why it's not easy), the importance of play, boundaries and much more.
