Inside Dairy: Grass is flying, Budget bingo and what’s next for milk prices
Grass growth is running ahead of normal, but hitting target residuals will be critical over the weeks ahead. On this week’s Inside Dairy, Brendan Horan and Daire Cregg look at grazing management, the Budget and what it really means for dairy farmers, as well as the latest dairy market picture from Ornua.
Milk collections are up globally but back in Ireland, while the outlook for milk prices remains stable through the final quarter with any potential price increases unlikely until early next year.
Plus, we meet Robert and Mary Troy from Newtownshandrum, Co Cork, recent winners of the NDC/Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards.
And in the Breakdown, we look at the key watchpoints for the weeks ahead — from body condition score to closing covers and why an extra grass walk may be more valuable than getting caught up in the Budget frenzy.
