On this week’s Youngstock podcast, Co Longford man Donal Hand joins Gary Abbott to discuss his time spent studying Manufacturing Engineering at IT Tralee, and how a later engineering role with ABP Food Group eventually led Donal to build his own workshop and start up his own business, DPH Engineering. The business specialises in design as well as bespoke metal fabrication and the fit out of meat factories. In recent times the business has branched more into civil works too.
Having grown up on the family farm, farming and agriculture make up a large part of Donal’s DNA. Alongside the business, Donal and his father run a 100 cow suckler herd. Bull calves are kept on and finished as bull beef while heifer calves are kept on either as replacements or sold as stores. With a keen interest in machinery, Donal also provides a full GPS fertiliser spreading service to farmers in the surrounding areas.
