He later served on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https://bahaipedia.org/Universal_House_of_Justice\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Universal House of Justice</a>&nbsp;from 1988 to 2000.</p><p><br></p><p>Taherzadeh was born into a Bahá’í Family in&nbsp;<a href=\"https://bahaipedia.org/Yazd\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Yazd</a>, Iran, in 1921. His father was&nbsp;<a href=\"https://bahaipedia.org/H%C3%A1j%C3%AD_Muhammad-T%C3%A1hir-i-M%C3%A1lm%C3%ADr%C3%AD\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Táhir Málmírí</a>&nbsp;and his mother was Legha’iyyih. He experienced persecution while growing up in Yazd being harassed and having stones thrown at him due to his religion. After finishing school he attended the University of Tehran and studied electrical engineering then moved to Coventry, England, to undertake postgraduate studies.<a href=\"https://bahaipedia.org/Adib_Taherzadeh#cite_note-one-1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">[1]</a></p><p>In 1950 Taherzadeh pioneered to Ireland where he secured employment with the engineering firm Hughes &amp; Coyle Ltd. and he eventually became chief engineer of the firm. In 1960 he was elected to the National Spiritual Assembly of the British Isles and he served on the body until Ireland formed an independent Assembly in 1972 and then served on the National Spiritual Assembly of Ireland until being appointed a Counselor in 1976.<a href=\"https://bahaipedia.org/Adib_Taherzadeh#cite_note-one-1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">[1]</a></p><p>In 1984 Taherzadeh retired from his job with the engineering firm and in 1988 he was elected to the Universal House of Justice and moved to the Holy Land to serve on the body.</p>","author_name":"Siyamak Sasani"}
