The FA Cup Third Round Proper is one for the romantics: the smallest clubs in the land can share a pitch with the biggest, and both sides can live a different football life for a day.</p><p><br></p><p>Moss Rose was built in 1891 for Macclesfield Town, which was <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquidation\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>would-up</strong> </a>in 2020 amid financial troubles. That guest is James Walker of <a href=\"https://www.thesilkmennews.co.uk/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>The Silkmen News</em></strong></a>, a podcast and newsletter, and he also explained how new owner Robert Smethurst righted the ship with the help of his friend Robbie Savage after buying up the assets in an online liquidation sale. We also touched on how Wayne Rooney’s brother, John, is doing this season having replaced Savage as manager having helped the club win promotion how non-league football is thriving these days, and how Macclesfield got their nickname.</p><p><br></p><p>For our U.S. listeners, you can <a href=\"https://www.espn.com/watch/catalog/332e6880-b05d-4315-ae73-defad8bc3920/english-fa-cup#bucketId=29456&amp;sourceCollection=Leagues_%28Alphabetical%29\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>catch every FA Cup match this season on ESPN+</strong></a></p><p><br></p><p>Check out <strong><em>The Silkmen News</em></strong><em> </em>on <a href=\"https://open.spotify.com/show/50dTaJHb7J29Za2OkyHvHD\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Spotify</strong></a> and <a href=\"https://www.thesilkmennews.co.uk/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Substack</strong></a>, and get more sharp coverage of the world's game at <a href=\"https://www.thefootballweekend.com/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>TheFootballWeekend.com</strong></a> ↗️</p>","author_name":"Jack Holmes & KICKOFF PRESS"}
