Warning: serious heavyweight vibes in this episode with one of today’s true GOATs… Never Dull.
While he was in France for his European tour, we were lucky enough to welcome one of the most influential Disco DJs out there right now.
Coming straight from San Diego & Tijuana, Never Dull is a producer I’ve been following since 2018 — and someone I never thought I’d get the chance to interview.
And yet, thanks to the Disco Bowl — and mainly to Louis, who had the guts to hit him up in an Instagram comment — here he is on CaleSon.
Alberto (his real name) looks back on a wildly shifting career: ska/reggae beginnings, a detour through lo-fi, and eventually a full embrace of Disco.
Because as his name suggests, Never Dull refuses to box himself into one single style. And honestly, that’s exactly what Disco is about: total freedom.
Today, he’s one of the leading captains of the Disco revival. But who knows… maybe tomorrow he’ll open a donut shop in Tijuana (you’ll understand when you listen).
And to top it all off, the night of the interview he plugged his USB at the POPUP… and absolutely destroyed the dancefloor (you can watch and listen to the set here),
while I destroyed the English language with my questionable accent — though I’m pretty sure we still managed to have a deeper conversation than a TOEFL class.

Attention : du très, très lourd dans cet épisode avec l’un des GOATs du moment… Never Dull.
De passage en France pour sa tournée européenne, on a eu la chance d’accueillir l’un des DJs Disco les plus influents du moment.
Venu tout droit de San Diego & Tijuana, Never Dull est un producteur que je suis depuis 2018 — et que je n’aurais jamais imaginé interviewer un jour.
Et pourtant, grâce au Disco Bowl - et surtout à Louis qui a eu le culot de lui glisser un commentaire sur Insta, le voilà chez CaleSon.
Alberto (de son vrai prénom) revient sur une carrière ultra mouvante : des débuts ska/reggae, un détour par la lo-fi, pour finalement embrasser un Disco assumé.
Parce que comme son nom l’indique, Never Dull refuse de s’enfermer dans un style. Et quelque part, c’est exactement ça, l’esprit Disco : la liberté à fond.
Aujourd’hui, il s’impose comme l’un des commandants de bord du revival disco. Mais qui sait… peut-être que demain il ouvrira un magasin de donuts à Tijuana (à comprendre en écoutant).
Et pour couronner tout ça, le soir de l’interview il a posé sa clé USB au POPUP… et il a littéralement déchiré le dancefloor (son set à voir et écouter ici),
au même titre que moi j'ai déchiré la langue de Shakespeare avec mon anglais approximatif — même si j’ai bon espoir qu’on ait réussi à avoir une conversation plus profonde qu’un cours du TOEFL.
