These drugs are being hailed as a miracle by some, dismissed as dangerous by others, and quietly used by a rapidly growing number of people across the UK — including those who don’t technically “need” them.
So what are they? How do they work? Who are they for? And what are the long-term consequences — physically, psychologically, and socially?
This conversation isn’t about judgement or snide condemnation, it’s about understanding what’s happening, why it matters, and what it tells us about modern life, medicine, and body image. I also reflect on my own very personal issues with my own body image, and the discomfort it causes me on a regular basis.
And most importantly, we want to make sure that if you are going to use the drug, that you’re equipped with the necessary information to ensure that you do so as safely as possible.
